for the first time in a week

Hello.

I'm back.

Well, I've been back since Saturday evening. But, this is the first chance I've had to sit down with my computer.

On Saturday night, we crashed on the couch with Penny and cheese pizza.

She was so happy to come home with us.

We were right back in the swing of things Sunday morning at Journey. I love our current series. You can listen to it here.

We had lunch with some people right after church, and then Sunday night was spent celebrating my wonderful dad.

Monday was back to work in the morning, and then I proceeded to go to all of the horrible health appointments I could in one day.

Well, it was only two. It just felt like a lot. I had to go to the dentist because my tooth has been hurting like bad words since Sunday. They tried to help me, but they were basically useless. She sent me away with a script for Amoxicillin. Then I had to go get my blood drawn to check my thyroid levels for the umpteenth time. You would think it would get easier, but I still hate it as much as the first time.

Luckily, the day ended in a win because we finally got to go see Man of Steel.

I'm sure your well aware by now if you know me and Aaron at all that we are big Batman fans around here.

In fact, this is what Aaron wore to the Superman movie:

I, however, at least attempted to be in Superman theme.

It was a great movie. Aaron loved it, but not as much as the Dark Knight Trilogy, of course.

That brings us to today, and we are back in a somewhat normal routine.

Only until Thursday though...then it's off to Indiana for my cousin's wedding!

P.S. Next post will be about our cruise. Promise. For now, here's one of my favorite pictures from it.

happy anniversary, aaron

Aaron,

I know you won't read this today since we are in the middle of the ocean.

Happy 3rd Anniversary!

How time flies.

I love you so much more than I did 3 years ago on this day.

Thank you for loving me so well.

I love our crazy, fun life.

I'm glad I get to spend every day with you.

I am so proud of you for never settling at anything and always trying to be better at whatever you do.

I think you are the hottest guy ever.

You make me laugh every day.

I love being your wife and making our home your favorite place to be.

I can't wait to see what God has in store for our family in the future.

Whatever it is, we'll be in it together. Like always.

Love,

Whitney

until next time

Well friends, we are officially checked out. We left early, early this morning to drive to Jacksonville.

Lord willing, we will be getting on a giant boat in the next few hours, turning off cell phones and internet, and disconnecting from the world for five days.

Therefore, I will not be blogging this week. Sad, I know. (but really, if you're sad, don't be)

Don't worry, you can expect Instagram and blogging overload upon my return.

Until then, bon voyage!

about our camping trip

So this was the day I was to blog about our college group camping experience. And boy did we have one.

Except instead of this:

(outside camping like these cool kids)
it was like this:

Camping in the lobby at Journey (thanks for the picture, Joe)
Yes, our fun-filled camping wilderness adventure (and by wilderness, I mean someone's backyard) was foiled by the evil Andrea.

Julie, who was to be our lovely camping hostess, said her yard was a pond after the rain started.
When we all pulled into the parking lot and it looked like this...

...we quickly made a plan B for an indoor camping adventure.

We played Wii. We played Quelf. We played Mad Gab. We watched Pitch Perfect. We played Counselor Hunt.

We ate pizza. We ate cookies. We ate popcorn. We ate S'mores Sundaes.

(Another photo credit to Amanda...I was so bad at taking pictures last night)
And we even told a ghost story based on this super creepy braid of hair that was found in a purple Easter egg in the freezer. (Yes, and I don't even know)

This was the cause of a major giggle fit and a total freak out.

Even though we still look forward to making up our missed camping trip in the fall, this camping trip was amazing.

Even if I am exhausted from staying up until 2:30 in the morning...

a Friday flashback

I can't believe our anniversary is in just four days. Three whole years. They have flown by.

I decided for Friday flashback I would look in the archives for something from right before our wedding. Here's what was in my head three years ago...

Let's flashback to...

June 3, 2010...

Hello. I know that it’s been awhile. I was looking at my previous post from February. How sad.  Not that anyone sits around waiting for me to write something.  But, if by any chance you do, I apologize for slacking off for four months.
I think it goes without saying that these past four months have been the busiest months of my entire life.  It paid off though.  I am now an official college graduate, and in case you didn’t know, I am marrying my best friend in eight days.
The wedding is coming together quite well.  I am so very excited for next Friday.  I have not slept peacefully in at least 8 nights.  My mind is always racing with anticipation, and I’ll admit, some stress. :)
If you think about it, please, please join us in prayer as we combat the rain.  I know that if God wills it to rain on my wedding, He knows what He’s doing.  I trust Him completely, and either way, Aaron and I are getting married on June 11th.  (Bring your umbrellas!)  But I would be lying if I told you I would be happy about it!
As we approach the coming week (wedding week), Aaron and I are busy trying to leave everything in order at Journey, make our apartment livable, and finish up last minute wedding things.  We keep saying to each other, “Just make it through this week!  Next week will be fun!”  But for right now, we are going non-stop.  We are so ready to sail away together.
Well, this doesn’t have much of a point besides giving you a small update on our world.  As for me, I am just counting down the minutes until I get to marry Aaron Jack Bauer.  I am the happiest bride in the whole world. :)

How fun. You'll be happy to know that it did not rain on our wedding day. It was, however, a billion degrees outside. Just kidding. But it was seriously over 90 degrees and miserable. And here we are again, counting down the days until we sail away to celebrate being married. And yes, I'm still the happiest bride in the whole world. Some things don't change.

about fx:MiNi

Wasn't the set for fx:MiNi so cute?!

We had a great turn out for our first preschool family experience. Our preschool-age director, Robyn, did a fantastic job as the brains behind the whole morning. There were donuts and coffee in the lobby before they came back to the room. Then, there was singing, stories, and activities.

We learned all about how God made us to help others.

That had been their focus for the month of May, so the kids knew all of the songs. They got to teach them to their parents.

Plus, we introduced the new song for June (which I love).

I am definitely looking forward to the next fx:MiNi in August!

And of course my man did a great job telling the Bible story. :)
